Taking it Back

Jon is out of town tonight, and I'm left at the house alone (remember, no more roommate!) I'm doing all of the things I don't usually get to do when he's around. Catching up on my google reader, eating PB&J for dinner, and.... watching Follow that Bird!!

I LOVED this movie as a kid. I have probably seen it 50 times. When you're a kid you don't realize some of the more mature jokes in kids' movies, and this movie has plenty. I bought the DVD a few months ago on Amazon, and I'm just getting around to watching it (I also bought Pee Wees Big Adventure which is the movie I'd watch whenever I wasn't watching Bird). It's bringing me back to the days when my parents and I would make a huge bowl of popcorn and eat it with chocolate (which is the best combo of two things ever). In fact, I'm going to pause it to make a bowl right now!

What's your favorite childhood movie that you could still watch again and again?

One plus one equals fun

Last night, J and I spent the night in... playing board games and getting drunk off mimosas. It was a blast! I kicked his arse at Scrabble, of course, and he beat me in like 7 games of Yahtzee. That's our life, people. 2 drunks playing games.

I was saddened to hear that my favorite NPR show, The Bryant Park Project has been cancelled. In my opinion, it was the best thing on the network, and it will be a big loss for the younger NPR crowd. Honestly, the other shows (save for Click and Clack) are boring. Hopefully the website will keep the archive of old shows, so I can tap into the ones I missed.

I planned on making a nice long post, but I've been putting off my homework for like a week and a half, so I really need to get on that. Laters!

First of several

I have more posts to write today, but I thought this deserved its own spotlight

I have been excited for the new Batman movie ever since seeing Batman Begins. We went to see it on Friday and I was NOT disappointed. I loved it. It's been said a thousand times before, but Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker.

The old Batman movies from the 90's pale in comparison to Christopher Nolan's take on them. They were so comic book-y. I know Batman IS a comic book, but the story behind it is much more serious than the usual POW! BLAM! and the portrayal of the villians in past movies. I loved that they showed the real story behind Harvey Dent/Two-Face. I never read the comic books, and I never really knew the stories in the series, which is why I love the way that these two movies have really given a good idea of the psychology of the whole thing. I'm obsessed with psychology and motives.

So, all in all, I give this 5 out of 5 stars. And I do not regret the near $30 we spent on tickets, soda, and munchies.

Also, Christian Bale needs to be my boyfriend, like, now.

Bag Lady

I am obsessed with bags. Handbags, luggage, reuseable grocery bags, you name it. That's why I was Delighted to buy this gorg laptop bag:

The laptop goes in the front pouch, and the inside of the bag is nice and roomy, with pockets for all my crap. Its a perfect work/school bag!

Adorable!

Excellent

I'm not afraid to admit I like stupid comedies. Superbad, Old School, Wedding Crashers, Anchorman... love em all.
That's why I am super-pumped about THIS:

Also loving the song in the trailer, M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes"

Therapy for Boredom

Just got back from Target with these babies

Yellow polka-dot Chucks! Wee! They are so cute, especially with the dark wide-leg jeans I wore to buy them.

I also picked up my not so Secret weapon- Dove Clinical strength deoderant (ha, get the "Secret" pun? no? lame?). I'm not a smelly person, but I'm not afraid to admit that in the summer, especially in the middle of the freakishly humid south, I get a little less than fresh at the end of the day. Not with this stuff. I stay clean and dry all day! I should do commercials...

Business or pleasure

I'm in Tampa for a business trip, but I am also trying to make it pleasurable. I don't get to take trips for work (or in regular life, for that matter), so I'm trying to make the best of it. Tampa is a great city. The drive down wasn't too bad (I made it in about 4 1/2 hours because I have a ridiculous lead foot), and the pace is much nicer than Slow-vannah. Don't tell J, but I've actually been looking at real estate since I've been here (but don't get too worked up- I do that for every town I decide I like. I'm home-obsessed). It also helps that I'm staying in the Hilton Garden Inn, which is fab! I feel guilty that I'm spending so much of the company's money on a three day trip, but they approved it, so I'll enjoy it!
I'm taking the peaceful alone time to get myself caught up on reading and blogging. I've finished my blog update, so stray from your google reader and let me know what you think!
My best friend also came up to visit me last night! She lives in southern Florida, so it was only about an hour and a half for her. We had a blast. Japanese food and catching up- can't beat it! We live about 7 hours apart, but we haven't visited each other since we've both moved down here. We decided to plan a trip to Orlando, which is about half way for both of us. The problem is we keep saying "Yes, we should do that!" and never end up doing it. So this time we're going to look at our schedules and set a specific weekend, so that we have concrete plans.
Back to window-shopping for houses and deciding where I'm going to eat!
Your homework: Comment about one city you would love to live in and why!
